Your sentences can carry all the right information and still read as choppy.

To experience flow, readers need to receive information in the right order.

The reader's mind is like a tree, and each new idea is like a leaf: it needs to hang off the branch of something the reader already knows.

Most choppy prose has the order backwards.

But the fix is simple: put old information first, new information last, and use the passive in the rare sentence the active can't fix.  
  
Do it consistently and the sentence-beginnings all link back to one focus, which is what turns a choppy pile into prose that flows.
