You want your book recommended, so you make it balanced, thorough, careful.
But a friend once recommended a book to William she'd never read — because recommending it signalled who she is, and that, not nuance, is how ideas spread.
The books that get passed along aren't the balanced ones; they make a sharp promise, name a reader in pain, and pick a fight.
So is a recommendable book written, or positioned?

Both, but positioning is the half most experts skip.
Make a promise specific enough that the wrong reader taps out, write to one person whose hair is on fire, and name the enemy they already hate — so the book stokes trust and feeling, not just argument.
Do that and the reader carries it like a badge, recommending it before they've even finished.
